Monsters (mobs) are enemys in Minecraft that will attack you on site or when you attack them. Monsters spawn during the night and when the sun rises they stop spawning and most of them burn in sunlight. The five basic mobs in this game are Zombies, Creepers, Skeletons, Spiders, and Slimes. However, Slimes only spawn in swamp biomes. However there are more advanced mobs and boss mobs. They are:

The Ghast is the most fearsome mob in the nether. It flys around and shoots explosive fireballs at the player and it is almost impossible to kill without a bow. The way to kill it without a bow is when it shoots the fire ball at you, you must hit the ball back at it and hope that it goes back and hits the ghast.

The Blaze is a floating mob that also flies but not for very long. They only spawn in Nether fortresses. If you find it, it could float off of the edge of a cliff to get away from you. If you are higher than it, that is when it will fly to get to you.

This is an image of a Magma Cube, the nether cousin to the Slime. When a Magma Cube moves it will split apart into seven layers while it is still in midair. If you see a group of Magma Cubes with really small ones in it the larger ones will move in between you and the smaller ones (like a bear defending its cubs).

This is a Wither Skeleton. They spawn in Nether fortresses and carry around a stone sword. They also have a special ability to wither somebody in which the player will age very fast and eventually crumple up into a pile of dust. The Wither Skeleton drops wither skeleton heads which are used to craft the Wither boss.

This is the Wither. It is a boss mob. You must craft this mob using wither skeleton heads. Once this mob is crafted a health bar will appear and it will be nearly dead. However, when it first spawns it is invulnerable until it gains full health and once it does, the area around it will explode. It fires it's own heads at you and flies around. Once it goes down to half health, it becomes immune to arrows and comes down to ground level so you can fight it with a sword.

This is the Enderdragon. This is the final boss in the game and only spawns once in The End. It flies around and when it comes to attack it will fly down and ram into you. Once defeated it will drop a massive amount of orbs known as experience and it will form the new enderportal needed to return to the normal world.

This is the Enderman. It spawns in the normal world and The End. It is the servant of the Enderdragon and is sent to the normal world to capture you. It is also in the End to stop you from killing the Enderdragon.

This is the Witch. She is a Villager mob but lives in swamps and attacks the player with potions. The Witch lives in a small wood hut with a crafting table, furnace, and a cauldron in her house. When killed, she will drop a variety of different potion ingredients.

This is a Silverfish. The Silverfish is the most annoying mob in the game as they are hard to hit and move fast. Silverfish do not spawn normally. They spawn in a block and when that block is broken the Silverfish pops out and attacks. Any other Silverfish in the area also pop out and attack, even if you didn't mine them.
